D.L. “Dean” Webb, age 56, of Newport, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee following a brief illness. He was of the Baptist faith. He was employed by Dollywood for twenty-four years. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Marty Webb; parents, Arnold and Daisy Webb; and a brother, Wendell Webb. He is survived by his wife, Pat and sons, Derrick and Travis Webb, of the home; sisters, Floss Suggs, of Newport, Dena Proffitt, of Central City, KY, and Gail Hannah and Donita Webb, both of Cosby; half brothers, Bradley and Brian Webb, of Newport. Also several nieces and nephews. A special nephew, Dennis Suggs, of Newport; father-in-law, Aubrey Holt, of Bybee; and brothers-in-law, Paul Hays and wife, Rita, of Bybee, Dale Holt and wife, Nancy, of Newport, Harvey Holt and wife, Sue, of Bybee, Jerry Holt, of Newport, and Denny Holt, of Morristown. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Manes Funeral Chapel. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday with burial in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. Manes Funeral Home is in charge.
