Dorothy Baxter Webb, age 80, of Cosby went to be with the Lord Friday August 1, 2014. She was born August 3, 1933 in Cosby to the late Oku and Pearl Ramsey Baxter. Dorothy was the owner of Cosby Mini Storage. She was also a charter member of Webb Baptist Church and one of several individuals who signed the original note to build the church. She was a wonderful Mother and Mamaw. Dorothy “Mamaw” was beloved and admired by all she met. She is remembered as generous, loving, and kind-hearted. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Webb. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Gayla (Bill) Ewing of Cosby, Jeannie (Mark) Hurst of Knoxville, Jana (Steve) Johnson of Cosby. Grandchildren Denise Webb (Roger Blakely), Laura Hurst, Megan (Ryan) Hurst Carter, Lindsay Johnson, Gregg Ewing, Deanna (Brian) McMahan. Great grandchildren Ellie Owens, Timmy & Talea Blakely, Amber & Keana McMahan. Great-great grandchild Zaelyn Ball. Sisters Bobbie (Jesse) Green of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Oveta Cureton of Knoxville, Gary (Robin) Baxter of Cosby. Special Aunt Ethel Snyder of Pendleton, IN. Sister-in- laws Ida Ruth Sutton, Reva Dean (W.J.) Bryant, brother-in- law Gay Webb. Special friends Jim & Janice Compton. Several nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday August 4, 2014, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday prior to the funeral services. Burial will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the Webb Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donation to Stokely Memorial Library 383 East Broadway, Newport, TN 37821 or Cancer Society.
