Costner, 93, of Cosby, died Saturday, February 6, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. She was a member of Catons Grove United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Israel Costner; two sons, Wayne Costner and Elmer Harris; her parents, Noah and Mary Alice McCarter Gunter; and her grandson, John Harris. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Carolyn Costner of Cosby; daughter and son-in-law, Paralee and Kenneth Shults of Cosby; sister, Glennie Forrester of Newport; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at 8 p.m. Sunday at Manes Funeral Chapel with Rev. Denver Davidson and Rev. Elizabeth Fox officiating. Burial was held 10 a.m. Monday at the Costner Family Cemetery.
