Orpha Addie Lunsford, age 97, of Marshall, N.C., formerly of Newport was called home by the Lord, Wednesday, August 2, 2006, after an extended illness. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Lunsford; sisters, Ethel Lunsford, and Pearl Ford; also a brother Everette Carlisle. She is survived by a special nephew and niece, Jerry and Alice Maddron of Marshall, N.C. with whom she had lived for the last 2 years; brother, Berlin Carlisle of Greenville, S.C.; sisters, Sara Blanche Maddron of Marshall, N.C., and Helen Dockery of Platka, Florida; also several generations of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday August 5, 2006 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Boggan officiating, with burial in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12 noon until 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral services.
