Carl R. Butler, 89, of Newport, went to be with his Lord Friday, October 18, 2002 at the Baptist Hospital of Cocke County following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Butler was a retired farmer and a member of Jenkins Chapel Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Benjamen H. and Julia A. (Hurst) Butler; wife, Edna Rose Murrell Butler; one son and one daughter, Johnny Butler and Geraldine Ball; three brothers and three sisters, Gene, Bill, and Nig Butler, Gail Caldwell, June Butler, and Dorothy Clevenger.
Surviving are four daughters and two sons-in-law: Charlotte Morton, of Newport; Beth Peterson, of Florida; Jane and Homer Cook, of Bakersville, NC; Evelyn and Jack Pendergrass, of Blountville; one son and wife, Andy and Judith Butler, of Newport; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Amalee Butler, of Baneberry; Susie and Jim Taylor, of Richmond, VA; and Joann and Banjo Fine, of Newport; one brother and wife, Stanley and Roma Jean Butler, of Bethel, IL; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
The family received friends Saturday, October 19, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service was conducted Sunday, October 20, 2002 at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Frank Bell officiating. Interment followed at Jenkins Chapel Cemetery.
Brown Funeral Home has been honored to make final arrangements for Mr. Carl R. Butler.
