Sarah Elizabeth Valentine, age 91, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at Wellmont's –––Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
She was a long time member of Laurel Springs Christian Church, and a member of the William Cocke Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had retired from Cocke County School System after 34 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David N. Valentine; parents, Dr. and Mrs. John Huff; brothers, Lawrence, Lawton, Lones, and Larmie Huff; sisters, Ola Proffitt and Beulah Harrison.
She is survived by her son, David Valentine and wife, Wanda, of Kingsport, TN; daughter, Nancy Ward and husband, Robert, of Trion, Ga.; granddaughters, Beth Dougherty, Angie Davis, both of Kingsport; Sarah (Sally) Burris, of Summerville, Ga.; Susan Ward, of Trion, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Azusa, Tirsa, and Asher Burris, all of Summerville, Ga., and Hannah Dougherty, of Kingsport; sister, Ora Valentine, of Maryville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2005, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ron Ramsey officiating with burial 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2005, in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005, at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral.
