Irene A. Ford Compton, age 77, of Newport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 11, 2008.
She was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Compton; parents, Robert and Cara Ford; sisters, Virginia McMahan, Flotella David, and Beatrice Ford; brothers, J.R. Ford and Parker Ford Jr.; mother and father-in-law, Fred and Mary Compton.
She is survived by her son, Michael Compton, and daughter, Angela Stephens and husband, Garry Ball, all of Newport; granddaughters, Jessica Reed and husband Andy Reed, of Newport; Erin Stephens, of Atlanta, Ga.; Stephanie Stephens, of Johnson City; and McKenzie Ball, of Newport; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Manny Reed, of Newport, and Rylee Carpenter, of Johnson City; sisters, Jewel Davis, Viola Brown, and Shelby Presnell, of Newport; brother, Bill Ford, of Asheville, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2008, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ben Watts, the Rev. Junior Loveday, and the Rev. Cline Franklin officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
