Audrey Clark Swayngim age 85 of Waynesville passed away peacefully at the Brian Center on Sunday October 14, 2007 with her family at her side.
She was born to the late William and Dovie Green Clark in Haywood County on May 1, 1922. She was a homemaker all of her life.
In death she rejoins her parents, her husband James William Swayngim in 1989, three grandchildren, brothers Glenn Clark, Gueshrom Clark, Love Clark, Andy Clark, , Bob Clark and Grady Clark; sisters Martha Jane Clark, Blandy Brown, Estell McCarter, and Mae Gaddy.
She is survived by her son Elmer 'Thad' Winchester of Middleburg, FL; four daughters Carolyn Ledford and her husband Bob of Waynesville, Penny Kay Cummings and her husband Robert of Greenville, SC, Zelva Lee and her husband Rocky of Waynesville, and Jackie Stephens and her husband Charles of Chucky, TN; grandchildren Beth Tice, Asa Winchester, Angel Davis, Chris, Robby and Steven Cummings, Emily Lee, Nikki and Josh Stephens, and an 'adopted' grandchild Paige Snowden. thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive her.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 16th, 2007 at 4 PM in the Chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations. The Rev. Jimmy Brown will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 at the funeral home and at other times at Zelva Lee's home 355 Bradley Street, Waynesville, NC.
Burial will be in the Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery.
The family would like extend special thanks to Dr. Harsh and the staff of the Brian Center for all the love and care they gave their mother for the past eight years.
