She worked at Grassy Fork School for 33 years for special education. She was a special lady, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher, genealogist, writer, historian, and philandthropist. Brenda was many things to many people, most of all a good Christian lady. She was a member of Church of Christ at Grassy Fork. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Doris Green; sisters, Eula Wilson and Geraldine Green; brothers, Dale and Johnny Green. She is survived by her husband, J.D. Wilburn; daughters, Doris Ann Mertz (Dave) and Mary Kate Wallen (Troy); grandchildren, Sam and Elizabeth Metz, and Daniel and Hannah Grace Wallen; brothers, George Green (Alene) and Kenneth Green (Alma Kay); sisters, Aurine Barnett (Ray), Joann Wilburn (Troy), Betty Sue Jones (Mike); brother-in-law Henry Wilson;mother-in-law, Kate Wilburn; sister-in-law, Gayle Green; lots of nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, November 3, 2016 with funeral services to follow at 7:00 pm at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Olie Williams, Minister of Cosby Church of Christ and Brother Wilson Messer officiating.
