Longtime Newport Rescue Squad member Fred Ogle, 82, passed away Thursday of natural causes.
Ogle was a past captain of the squad and was the current parliamentarian for the organization.
Ogle served as a captain in the organization for several years and was a first aid/CPR instructor.
Squad member Matthew Woody said Ogle was always in the squad room and had perfect attendance until he suffered a heart attack in December. He devoted many years of time and service to the rescue squad.
“He was always a supporter of the rescue squad and everything we did,” Woody said.
Rusty Williams, Captain of the rescue squad, said Ogle taught thousands of people in the area CPR.
“He taught here for more than 25 years. He has been here longer than I have been here,” he noted. “He was a fine person.”
Funeral arrangements are by Manes Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday and Saturday from 6-8 p.m. with burial Sunday at 2 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
