Charles A. Kuszmaul, age 92, of Atglen, PA, formerly of Fallston, MD, went home to be with the Lord at his home on Monday, August 30, 2010. He was the husband of Hazel R. Bell Kuszmaul with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage on March 9th of this year.
Born in Baltimore, MD, and son of the late Lawrence and Ethel Day Kuszmaul, he attended Calvary Monument Bible Church of Paradise since living in Pennsylvania. Charles was a Baptist minister who started many churches in the Baltimore-Washington area and also worked as a brick mason. He retired as a teacher in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He earned his BA degree from Baylor University, TX, where he lettered in track and swimming. He also obtained his Bachelor of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, KY. He enjoyed serving others, long-distance running, gardening, woodworking and was a self-taught musician, including playing the handsaw.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters: Nanette Williams of Port Charlotte, FL, Charlene, wife of Clair Leaman of Atglen, Marcia Kuszmaul, wife of Mannfried Funk of Seattle, WA; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 siblings: Jean Anchors and Lawrence Kuszmaul.
Funeral service will take place from the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, PA, on Friday, September 3rd, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Michael Britton officiating. There will be family visitation at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment service will be in the Highview Memorial Gardens, 3433 Fallston Road, Fallston, MD, on Friday September 3rd, at approx. 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made for Haiti relief through World Vision, P.O. Box 9716, Federal Way, WA 98063-9716 or a charity of your choice.
