He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend of nearly 50 years, Shirley Starnes Emert and infant son, Nathaniel Leroy. Paul was born September 1, 1931 in Sevierville, TN. to George and Bessie Maples Emert; he was the 9th of 11 children. Paul was a lifelong Methodist. He enjoyed golf, bowling and a love for the Atlanta Braves Baseball and Tennessee Volunteer Sports. Paul’s career spanned more than 50 years in various financial, sales, executive management and entrepreneurial positions with Pet Dairy, Stuckey’s Candy, Franklin Foods and the ownership of several dry cleaning operations. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kit and Pam Emert of Lancaster, PA., four grandchildren, Jessica of Knoxville, TN.; Jennifer of Washington, DC; Georgia and Paul lll of Lancaster, PA. and one brother, Bill of Dandridge, TN. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 5, 2014 at Rawlings Funeral Home in Sevierville with Dr. Bob Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. Monday until time of service. Interment will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to Asbury United Methodist Church in Greenville, TN. or the charity of choice.
