BARNES, ARTHUR "CARROLL" - age 82, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 28, 2012 after battling cancer. He was born September 7, 1930. He bravely served in the United States Army, as a guard at Spandau Prison in Berlin, Germany. He served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Training Union teacher and RA Leader at Glenwood Baptist Church in Powell for many years. He retired from Container Corporation of America, Knoxville. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends at Deer Run Campground in Crossville, Tennessee during spring and summer, and also at Clerbrook Resort in Clermont, Florida during fall and winter. Preceded in death last October by his beloved grandson, Chad Edward Riggs. Preceded also by parents: Robert and Viola Webb Barnes; sisters: JoAnne (Kenneth) Barnes Overbay and Velma (Herman) Barnes Cope. Survived by devoted Wife of 58 years, Barbara Jane Hurst Barnes; two dedicated Daughters: Donna (Mark) Reed of Knoxville and Deborah Waters (Dr. Barton Waters) of Ringgold, Georgia; loving Grandchildren: Tim (Alicia) Ridge, Chris (Shawna) Riggs, Jennifer (Mike) Tipton, Dana Reed, Denise Riggs; seven cherished Great-Grandchildren: Austin Tipton, Caleb Ridge, Piper Riggs, Ryan Tipton, Emily Ridge, Eli Riggs, and Ella Riggs; and his faithful sister Juanita (Clarence) Acuff. Service 8 pm Sunday, Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel 4131 E. Emory Road; Knoxville, TN 37938 p: 865-922-9195 with Rev. Owen Ivery officiating. family and friends will meet at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and proceed to Glenwood Cemetery, 7212 Central Avenue Pike, Powell, Tennessee 37849, for interment at 1 pm. Family will receive frineds 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel.
