Oscar Blaine "O.B." Roberts, age 73, of 107 Cutoff, Greeneville, died early Wednesday morning (June 22, 2005) at James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center at Mountain Home after an extended illness.
He was retired truck driver and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #1990 and he was a Christian.
Survivors include his wife: Betty Brown Roberts; one daughter: Della King and special friend: Kenny Cogburn, of Greeneville; one step-daughter: Gail Wilson, of Jefferson City, Tenn.; one step-son: William "Billy" Holder, of Burnsville, N.C.; five step-grandchildren, including a special granddaughter: Mystyckle Wilson; seven step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beatrice Miller, of Chuckey, and Edith Rigsby, of Greeneville; three brothers: Joe Roberts, of Chuckey; Avery Roberts, of Alexandria, N.C.; and Jimmy Roberts, of Eden, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.
He was a son of the late W.J. and Della Anzia Roberts and was preceded in death by his brothers, B.H. Roberts and two infant brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Rose Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Williams will officiate.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for the 10 a.m. military graveside service.
V.F.W. Post #1990, American Legion Post #64, and the Tennessee Army National Guard will conduct military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Allen Bowers, George Hampsey, Donnie Franklin, Mike Garner, Billy Shope, and Keith Rigsby. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Garner, Sgt. David Oliver, Clyde Brooks, Bill Johnson, Bo Ramsey, and Jay Tweed.
