U.S. Veteran Lee Roe (Buck) Brown age 80 of Newport passed away Aug. 3, 2008 at Veterans Administration Respite Care in Johnson City, TN. He was the former owner and manager of the Brown and Brown Sign Company. He joined a tour of entertainers , which was approximately 90 people, and it was a country music band. They toured all of Europe and by special invitation performed in Russia. He was an avid Bluegrass and Gospel music fan having organized and performed both Gospel and Bluegrass with The Buck Brown and Three Rivers Band. A veteran of the U S Army he had served as an occupational troop in Germany at the end of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Emmett Brown, father and Ruth Price Brown mother, brother Ray Walter Brown, and sister Edith Brown Ball. He is survived by his wife Vontella Mason Brown of Newport, son Carroll Lee Brown and wife Dianna of Newport, grandchildren Dillon Lee Brown of Bean Station and Dakota Lee Brown of Newport, brother Roy D. Brown and wife Viola of Cosby, sisters Betty Roberts of Greeneville, TN., Ruby Jean Mills of Dandridge, Beulah Mae Bowers and husband Bill of Newport, Dorothy Roberts of Newport. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 6, 2008 at Resthaven with Rev. Scott Gorrell and Rev. Manson Lee officiating. Entombment will be in Resthaven Mausoleum following the services. Family and friends may view Mr. Brown at their convience throughout the day Tuesday at the funeral home, and sign guest register. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
