SAMS, DORIS FRENCH - age 61 of Powell, Tenn. passed away Friday, April 13, 2001 at her home. Ms. Sams was retired from the University of Tennessee, John C. Hodges Library after 30 years of service. She was a known local artist and was recognized as a lifetime member of the Tennessee Artists Assoc. Her original art work "Spring on the Mall" was chosen as the limited edition print winner of the 1993 Dogwood Arts Festival. She was preceded in death by parents, Houston and Juanita French and sister, Frances French Trentham. Survivors; son and daughter in law, Rusty and Pam Sands, Spartenburg, SC; daughter and son in law, Sherry and Michael Williams, Powell; grandchildren, Derek Williams, Kristin, Jessica and Justin Sams; great grandson, Ethan Everhart; sisters and brothers in law, Joyce and Ralph Sams, Knoxville, June and Bud Clabough, Birmingham, Ala.; brother and sister in law, Fred and Sharon French, Knoxville.
