He was a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, Charles McKinney Lodge #433 F&AM and Kerbela Shrine Temple. He was a Ham Radio Operator W4CVG and a retired Photographer. Preceded in death by parents, Frederick H., Sr. and Ida Louise Weigel French; wife, Juanita M. French; daughter, Frances Ray Trentham; sister, Janice Ray Underwood. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Sharon K. French of Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce K. and Ralph Sams of Knoxville, M. June and Ed Clabough of Birmingham, Alabama; daughter, Doris L. Sams of Claxton; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Tom King officiating.
