Rev. Murrell (Tom) McCarter age 72, of Sevierville, TN. went to be with the Lord, Monday, January 23, 2006.
He was the founder, builder and Pastor of Sunny View Church, Denton Road, Sevierville. Tom was the Manager of Greenbrier Island Campground for 31 years. He was graduate of Pittman Center High School and DeVry School of Electronics, a skilled electrician, carpenter, plumber and musician.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wayne and Lillie McCarter of Pittman Center and Brother, John W. McCarter.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kay Virginia Wilson McCarter: Sons, Stanley Ken McCarter and wife Linda of Sevierville, and Ronald Wayne McCarter and wife Darlene of Sevierville: Grandchildren, Angela, Daniel, Crystal and David McCarter, Phillip and Seth McCarter of Sevierville; Step Grandchildren, Stephen Huskey of Gatlinburg, Julia Shultz and husband, Jonathan; one Step Great Grandchild, Natali Shultz of Seymour. Brother, Winston McCarter and wife, Betty, several Nieces and Nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2005 at Rawlings Funeral Home with Rev. Don McGill, Rev. Keith Lamon and Rev. Billy Ogle officiating.
Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2006 in Middle Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Rawlings.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Sunny View Church 1399 Denton Road, Sevierville, TN 37862

Sevierville man is killed in tractor mishap

SEVIERVILLE - A local man was found dead Monday evening after an accident at his home on Denton Road.
The body of 72-year-old Murrell McCarter was found by his son at about 6:30 p.m., according to Detective Jeff McCarter of the Sevier County Sheriff's Department.
"It appears he was working on the backhoe attachment on his tractor when the hydraulics got activated and the boom come around and pinned him between the boom and the outrigger," Detective McCarter said.
McCarter was pronounced dead at the scene, Detective McCarter said.
