- In 1850 Dr. William Mateer aged 37 years, with real property worth $7000 was
listed in Upper Dickinson Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; other
members of his household were his wife Margaret aged 27 and children George
aged 3 and John aged one year.
In the 1860 census of Lower Allen Township, Dr. W. Mateer, a physician aged 48
years, was living next door to A. Mateer, female aged 75 years (his
mother-in-law). Dr. Mateer's household included his wife M. I. Mateer aged 38
and three children, G. W. aged 13, J. A. aged 10 and A. H. aged 9 years.
Letters of Administration on the Estate of William Mateer were granted on 9
January 1866 to Margaret Mateer; bond was for $600 with John Sprenkle and J. K.
Leiter as sureties.
Died at Hampton Sidney College, buried in Silver Spring Cemetery.
