Betty Speakman Spence, a native Arizonian, a lovely lady and a wonderful mother joined our heavenly Father on October 30, 2001. Betty was born the only child of Howard & Hazel Speakman in Phoenix on October 4, 1924. Betty attended Phoenix Union High School and graduated from North High School and graduated from North High School. During her collegiate years, Betty went to Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and then on to the University of Arizona. Betty has missed her daddy for many years. She loved him very much and was very proud of his accomplishments. Judge Speakman was an Arizona Trial Judge, State Supreme Court Justice and a Federal District Judge appointed by President Truman. After 49 years, she is reunited with her beloved father. Betty is survived by her two children, Mary Richmond and her husband Larry of Phoenix, Jeff Spence and his wife Jody of Corona, CA. And her grandchildren, Tucker Hancock, Christian Hancock, Justin Spence, Stephanie Spence, Jason Spence, her great granddaughter, Ciera Hancock, Ciera's mother, Edna Le Gault and her dearest friend, Mardy Newby. Betty spent most of her working years as a legal secretary for the State of Arizona and retired in 1990. Since her retirement, she has traveled abroad with family and friends and simply enjoyed life as only a lovely lady can. Services will be graveside, Saturday, November 3, 2001, 10:00 a.m., Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 West Van Buren. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 102 West McDowell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85003 or the Arizona Humane Society, 9226 North 13th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85020. Arangements by A.
