In Memory of Anna Cardwell Blalock age 92 passed away on June 12, 2016. Parents, Frances Porter Cardwell and Samuel Ray Cardwell raised Schley, Anna, Lois, Mary, Ruth, John, Frances and James Cardwell on their mountain farm.
She was born in a cabin that stands today in the Smoky Mt. Heritage Museum. As a child she watched Franklin D. Roosevelt’s motorcade arrive to dedicate the Smoky Mountain National Park. After graduation at Pittman Center High School Anna and her sister, Schley, attended Lincoln Memorial University together.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Blalock and 3 daughters, Clara and Mike Ogle, Paulette Jones, Sybil Blalock and Gary Gober; 4 grandchildren Dr. Stephen Ogle, Tanya and Don Carpenter, Ashley and Cory Summers, Christopher Jones; and 6 great- grand children.
Grandma Anna was thoughtful and wise lady who left the family farm for college followed by working at Alcoa Aluminum Company during World War ll. She taught school and worked with her husband in their construction and land development business.
She will be remembered as a wise and gracious wife, loving mother and grandmother
The family will receive friends on June 14, 2016, 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Rawlings Funeral Home in Sevierville.
The funeral will be a graveside service for the immediate family at Middle Creek Cemetery.
