MAHAN, IMOGENE U. (JEAN) - age 81 of Knoxville, died peacefully Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Parkwest Medical Center. Jean was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Cumberland Baptist Church and a former member of Northwest Baptist Church. Jean was a homemaker and a devoted church leader who taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Douglas Manning Mahan, son Gary Douglas Mahan, parents Sarah Edmondson and William Underwood, sisters Allyne Henderson, Marie Easterday, Lucille McMahan and brothers James (Red), John, Grant, Bill and Cecil Underwood and J.C., Allen, Jack and Eugene Edmondson. Jean is survived by her loving sons and daughters in law Steve and Delores Mahan of Knoxville, John and Sidney Mahan of Ellijay, GA; daughter in law Connie Mahan of Lafayette, GA; grandchildren and their spouses Doug and Kathy Mahan, Ken and Carrie Mahan, Glenn and Heather Mahan, Melissa and Mike Hensley, Laura Mahan, Katherine and Carey O'Kelley, Ryan Mahan and three great grandchildren; brother Billy Joe Edmondson and sister Eula Pressley, both of Knoxville. The family wishes to give a special thank you to caregiver and devoted friend Martha for the loving care she gave to Jean. Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Friday at Cumberland Baptist Church with Rev. George Gilbert officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the main entrance to Highland Memorial Cemetery for an interment service.
