H. Genevieve "Churney" Carr, age 82 of Sevierville, formerly of Winchester, TN, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Fort Sanders-Sevier Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Winchester, TN First United Methodist Church and served as a member and an officer of the United Methodist Women from 1963-2010. She taught school for 35 years, and served as a science teacher at North Junior High from 1969-1997. She was an Honored Member of Tennessee Retired Teachers, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher's Society from 1972-2012 and was awarded the Order of the Rose in 2007. Mrs. Carr served as Beta Club sponsor from 1969-1997.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph W. and Nancy Caroline Headrick Burns; sisters, Josephine Burns, Sue B. Porter, and June B. James; and brothers, Bill and John Bud Burns.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dominion Senior Living, Fort Sanders-Sevier Nursing Home, and Home Instead Senior Care
