- Colonel James Carothers was a civil engineer and surveyor who came in 1787 from
Carlisle to Hanover Township, Beaver County. On 24 December 1806 James
Carothers and wife Alice of Hanover Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, for
$100, deeded to William and John Carothers of East Pennsboro, all their rights
to one-fourth part of one-third part of a tract of land in East Pennsboro
Township this tract was owned by William, James and John Carothers as tenants
in common, devised to them by the will of their father John Carothers, late of
East Pennsboro; now James Carothers has died intestate leaving Alice his sister
as one of his heirs-at-law. Acknowledged in Beaver County on 24 December 1806,
recorded in Carlisle 6 August 1807.
