James McCarter, age 82 a lifelong resident of Gatlinburg and Pittman Center went to claim his glory in Heaven on Tuesday July 9, 2013.
James was a faithful husband to Betty Jean McCarter for 58 years, a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather to 7 children, and numerous grandchildren. He was loved and adored by many. James and his wife Betty started "Jim McCarter and Sons Plumbing and Excavating Co." in 1960 and is still running today. For many years James was seen with his favorite companion "Marmaduke" riding along with him.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Betty Jean McCarter, parents; Walter and Lenora McCarter, brothers; John, Alvin, Bill and Bud McCarter, sisters; Sara and Myrtle McCarter, Marge Smith and her husband Carl Smith, son; Peter Brackins, grandsons; Rodney, Michael and James.
Survivors:
Children: Judy Wrobel, Barbara McCarter, Sandi Zapasnik, Jimmy McCarter and wife Janet Debbie Doubles and husband Randy, Jerry McCarter and wife Kelli
Grandchildren: Brandon and Tiffani McCarter Melanie Fleming, Christine Moore, Isaiah McCrary, Zack Zapasnik, Brian and Cameron Brackins, Megan Brackins, Bob Kabel, Angela Mann

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic, 312 Prince St, Sevierville, TN 37862.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Friday with a funeral service to follow at 7PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell Wilson officiating.
