- The will of Isabella Creigh of Carlisle, written 14 Dec. 1823, probated 26 Feb.
1829, bequeathed to her niece Mary Ann Mateer, daughter of brother Andrew, "the
balance of the dower due from the estate of my late husband John Creigh, to be
put at interest until she reaches age 21;" to nephew Andrew, son of brother
Andrew, "what is due me out of the real estate of brother James deceased, to be
put at interest until he reaches age 21;" the remaining estate to brother
Andrew, he to be Executor. Witnesses: Peter McCann, James Starr. A codicil
dated 24 May 1828, wherein the testatrix is described as of Allen Twp.,
bequeathed the estate formerly given to nephew Andrew "who has since died",
plus stock in the Carlisle bank to Margaretta Isabella Mateer and Caroline Jane
Mateer, daughters of brother Andrew; the Executor, Andrew Mateer, may buy or
sell the assets of the estate in order to provide for these children.
