McMAHAN , MARIE ESTES McMAHAN , 85, passed away April 18, 2003. Born October 8, 1917 in Dallas, Texas, to David Ross Estes & Blanche Horton Estes , Mrs. McMahan graduated from Adamson High School and received her RN. degree from El Centro College School of Nursing. She was married to Grady Allen McMahan of Garland, Texas for 56 years. Mr. McMahan preceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by two sons, Richard Allen McMahan of Fort Worth and David Cecil McMahan of South Lake, Texas; 4 grandchildren: Pamela DeVoe of Fort Worth, Jennifer Carr of Fort Worth, Lisa McMahan -Muldoon of New York City, and Joanna Croy of South Lake; 4 great grandchildren: Darcy Harrell of Fort Worth, Diana DeVoe of Boulder, Colorado, Diedre DeVoe of Fort Worth, and Grady Carr of Fort Worth; and a great-great grandson, William Bailey Harrell of Fort Worth. Marie McMahan was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Mary Ann Lawhon Chapter of Dallas, TX., Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. McMahan was awarded a commendation by the United States Navy for her defense work during World War II. A life long Democrat, she served as Democratic Precinct Chairman for 18 years. Her family requests any memorials be made to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Family visitation will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, TX on Monday April 21 from 6-8pm.
