Stooksbury, Milas Broadus – 83 of Knoxville passed away at home with family and friends Monday October 24, 2011 after a long extended battle with Alzheimer. He is remembered as a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His family was evicted in the name of progress from the Loyston Sea area by the TVA/Norris Dam project; then relocated to the Wheat Community and later evicted for the building of Oak Ridge. Milas was a blessing and role model to all who knew him. We celebrate his life and many accomplishments. He was a long time resident and community servant in Anderson County. He served as the branch manager of Union Peoples Bank, Norris for many years. He retired as Vice-President Regions Bank with 30 years of service and continued his career as an auditor with FDIC. Milas had a love of music and used his talent to lead the music program and served as deacon at First Baptist, Norris. His service as deacon was continued at First Baptist Clinton TN. Milas was a man who lived his life by example serving in many organizations and leadership roles. Preceded in death by parents and all siblings. Survived by his devoted wife of 61 years Lucille Stooksbury, son Kenneth Stooksbury and wife Linda of Knoxville, TN, granddaughters Jill Fairbanks and husband Todd of Powell, TN, Jami Aylor and husband Joseph of Lexington, KY, great-grand-daughters Jasmine Renee Fairbanks and soon to be born Maci Sloan Aylor, and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law Elmer Ridenour and wife Sarah of Halls, TN, several nieces and nephews. Special Friends Majorie Cleveland, Homer and Phyllis Stooksbury, DeLois Kerr and a special caregiver Herb Wittle. We wish to express our appreciation to the wonderful first responders from Fire Station 10 for the many nights of assistance and the compassionate Covenant Homecare Hospice nurses and caregivers. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00PM Wednesday October 26th. Family and friends are to meet Thursday October 27th at 1:45 PM for Graveside service at 2 PM Fort Sumter Community Cemetery Halls, TN, with Reverend Sam Dean officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Senior Companion Program Box 51650 Knoxville TN 37950-1650.
