ALLEN, MARY KATE (STOOKSBURY) - age 80, of Monroe, GA, formerly of Snellville, GA entered into rest on October 28, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert (Bob) E. Allen; daughters & sons-in-law, Cindy & Mark Elliott of Loganville, GA, Janie & Jeff Breor of McKinney, TX; seven granddaughters, Meredith Blair Elliott, Loren Elizabeth (Elliott) & Josh Roberts, Katherine Jean "Katey" Elliott, Patricia Diane (Elliott) & Stu Heath, Claire Melane Elliott, Megan Jane Elliott, and Lucy Marie Breor; four grandsons, Robert Allen Elliott, Christopher Anthony "Chris" Elliott, Alex Trea Elliott and Arthur Allen Breor; sister, Rowena (Stooksbury) & John Brown and Brother, Glenmore & Mildred Stooksbury all of Powell, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, William Henry Stooksbury; mother, Bertha Ursula (Ridenour) Stooksbury; 5 brothers and 1 sister. Kate Allen was born on April 9, 1929 in Loyston, TN, the youngest of nine children. She married Bob Allen from Thomasville, GA on February 8, 1951. She was a loyal member of the Snellville United Methodist Church, served as a substitute teacher at the Snellville Middle School and served as Office Manager for her husband's accounting practice. She was a wonderful Historian and enjoyed different projects with her husband, Bob. A service celebrating the life of Mrs. Allen will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 12:00 o'clock at the Snellville United Methodist Church with Dr. Philip DeMore, Dr. Richard A. Hunter and Rev. Josh Roberts officiating. Hancock Sunday School Class, The Archive Committee, and Susannah Wesley Circle will serve as Honorary Escort. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service at the church. There will be a service on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. at the Powell United Methodist Church, Powell, TN with Rev. Josh Roberts officiating and the family receiving friends at the church from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of the service at the church. The Fidels Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort. Interment will be held Monday morning at 10:00 A.M. at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Knoxville, TN. Those desiring may make donations to the Snellville United Methodist Church or Powell United Methodist Church in memory of Mary Kate (Stooksbury) Allen.
