RIDENOUR, JUDGE BILLY R. - age 79, of Sweetwater, passed away Friday, February 29th 2008. Judge Ridenour was elected as Mayor of Sweetwater in 1981 serving 18 yrs, the longest serving Mayor in Sweetwater's history. Sweetwater City attorney from 1960 to 1971. Delegate to the Tennessee Constitutional Convention 1965/66. Practiced law in Sweetwater for 18 years. Retired Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration. 50 year member & Past Worshipful Master of Sweetwater Masonic Lodge 292 F&AM. Member & Past Noble Grand of Sweetwater Odd Fellows Lodge 280 since 1963. 32nd Degree Mason & Shriner. Past National Councilor for the Junior Order United American Mechanics. Former Kiwanian & Optimist member. President and Founder of the Citizens Industrial Committee in the 1960's and re-established this group while mayor. Past basketball coach at Sweetwater Junior High School. Member of the First Baptist Church, Sweetwater. Preceded in death by: parents, Lewis L. Ridenour & Elphia Lane Ridenour; daughter, Carla Isbill; brothers, Clyde Ridenour, J. Carson Ridenour, George Ridenour, Edward Ridenour, Robert Ridenour & C.C. Ridenour. Survivors: wife, Jaunita Jacobs Ridenour of Sweetwater; daughter & son-in-law, Peggy Ridenour Shaw & Norman Shaw of Knoxville; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles E. & Kathy Ridenour, Henry Ridenour all of Sweetwater; son-in-law, Danny Isbill of Madisonville; 8 grandchildren: Tracey Ridenour Prince, Katie Ridenour Hatfield, Michelle Branson, Jennifer Dawson, Ryan Shaw, Lana Shaw, Rachel Ridenour & Will Ridenour; 4 great-grandchildren: Drew & Aubrey Branson, Jacob & Justin Prince. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:30 P.M. Sunday, with funeral services following in Kyker's Chapel. Graveside services and interment 1:00 P.M. Monday in Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park. Rev. Phil Holmes officiating.
