SKINROOD, EDITH LEMING - 93 of Pensacola, FL passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007. Mrs. Skinrood was born in Knoxville, TN on November 8, 1913; she was the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Leming of Knoxville, TN, and stepdaughter of the late Mrs. Carrie Leming of Sweetwater, TN. She graduated from Hiwassee Junior College in Madisonville, TN, and Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH. She held teaching positions in the Tennessee and Ohio School systems, and at Wittenberg University. Her art was exhibited in various shows, and she was a published poet. At the time of her death she was a member of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springfield, OH. She was the widow of Professor Milton T. Kleintop, Col. Floyd G. Pratt, and Col. Norman A. Skinrood. She was also preceded in death by siblings Zelma Mae Payne, Earl, William, Walter and Clyde Leming, and stepchildren Richard Pratt, Linda Prosser, and David Skinrood. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and stepchildren Lisa Skinrood Root, Stephanie Skinrood Pritchard, and Norman A. Skinrood, Jr., and numerous step grandchildren. A graveside service was held at Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, OH, on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Donald Stoughton officiated. A Celebration of Her Life Service will be held at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN, with Bob Mize officiating, Sunday August 5, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Edith Leming Skinrood, Class of 1933 Endowed Scholarship Fund at Hiwassee College, 225 Hiwassee College Drive, Madisonville, TN 37534.
