"Werner Freiherr von Beschwitz was born in Dresden on 19.1.1915. In April 1936 he joined the Tank Regiment, 3rd platoon leader from 1939 to 1940 in the 5.Kompanie, he was then head of the regimental adjutant 7.Kompanie and 1942. Since 1943 Military Assistant to the General of Armoured Troops West, was in the same year he was appointed commander of the heavy tank battalion 505th The Knight's Cross he had received as a Major awarded on 27.07.1944. In 1945 he was commander of the Panzer Replacement and Training Battalion 500 and the "Tiger" courses . To build up the army, he put his experience to draw on and knew from 1.7.1959 service in various high command posts of armor (eg he was from 1965 to 1968 as a colonel deputy commander of the armored brigade, 64). Last Colonel and Head of the Joint Staff of the Bundesverteidiungsministeriums He was adopted on 31.03.1973 in retirement. "
