He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member and deacon of Big Pigeon Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by children R.L. (Sunny) Guffey and Betty Guffee. Survivors: Wife: Helen Carey Daughter and Son-in-law: Peggy and David Kugley Grandchildren: Kevin Kugley, Keith Kugley and wife Karolina, Randy Guffey Daughter-in-law: Lois Guffey Special friends: Earl Newman and Maurice Shults The family would like to extend special thanks Dr. Timothy Thompson and staff and the doctors and staff of Baptist Hospital and Amedisys Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blount County Volunteer Resque Squad, P.O. Box 218, Alcoa, TN 37701, or to Knox Area Rescue Ministries, P.O. Drawer 3310, Knoxville, TN 37927-3310.
