DAYTON, Tennessee – David McCarter, 72, died Oct. 5, 2015. He was a resident of Dayton, Tennessee for several years. He was a man who dearly loved his family and tried to show it by hard work and kind deeds. He quit school at the age of 16 to go to work so that his younger brothers and sisters would never have to go to bed hungry. He served in Vietnam from 1966-1968. For 44 years, he worked as a Journeyman Plumber in the Chattanooga area. He was a member and past Master of the Bridgeport Masonic Lodge #543 in Bridgeport, Alabama. He was also past Master of the Sand Mountain Lodge #920. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise McCarter; wife of 32 years, Patricia McCarter, children, Christopher Douglas McCarter, Marie (Penny) McCarter, and Veronica Reeves; parents, Ray D. and Elizabeth Barnes McCarter; brothers, Frank B. and Troy Lee McCarter. He was survived by son, James David McCarter; grandchildren, Courtney, Amber, and Brandi Reeves; sisters, Deanie Nelson, Darlene ! and Terry Clabo, and Moleta McCarter; step-children, Richie (Tina) Dugger, Dewayne Dugger, Dana Hutton, and Jeff and Michelle Hutton; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are Thursday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home. Visitation is Wednesday, 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
