Gary McCroy - A recently restored relationship was highly honored on March 5, 2013, when Jesus arrived to meet with Gary to take him home to live eternally in Heaven. Gary was one to thoroughly enjoy life on earth but that can be no comparison to the life he now has in heaven. Gary was a Maryville native but did spend time away serving in the Navy on the USS Intrepid and resided in Creve Coeur, IL for many years. Gary worked for Caterpillar and Superior Foundry. He retired back to Maryville many years ago and worked at Farrport Market and then for Anderson Lumber manning the guard shack. After total retirement he spent his days camping, motorcycle riding, traveling, and he was a daily walker at the Chilhowee View Community Center for the past 13 years. He loved life, family, friends and his horse! Gary was welcomed to his heavenly home by his father and mother, Tommy “Fate” and Lorena McCroy; in-laws, Paul and Velma Grindstaff; son, Tony McCroy; and son-in-law, Rocky Hornsby.
Left behind to join him later are his wife of 51˝ years, Pauline (Grindstaff) McCroy of Maryville, TN; daughter, Regina (McCroy) and Joseph Garner of Maryville, TN; son, Scott and (Deb Menson) McCroy of Creve Coeur, IL; daughter, Sherry (McCroy) and Brad Self of Maryville, TN; sister, Marlene Walker of Maryville, TN; brother, Sam McCroy of Alcoa, TN; in-laws, Homer and Margaret Potter, Fred and Belinda Duncan, Bill and Connie Grindstaff, Marti Grindstaff and Darrell all of Maryville, TN, JoAnn Grindstaff of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Aaron Hornsby, Amanda Menson, Kim Knight, Sonya Hornsby, Kendra McCroy, Maggie Self, Felicia McCroy; and great grandchild, Kylie Graves. Many loved nieces and nephews and too many special friends to list. He made friends everywhere he went.
Receiving of friends will be from 1-3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of a Life well lived at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Perkins officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
