Gerald “J.D.” Gibson, age 46 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011. J.D. lost his battle with pancreatic cancer and went home to be with the Lord. He was employed by Sevier County Fleet Service. He had been attending Shady Grove Baptist Church. J.D. was a wonderful, laid back man that enjoyed life, always had a smile on his face, and made wisecracks that could make anybody laugh. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and horses.
J.D. was preceded in death by his father, Gerald H. Gibson; mother, Ella Mae Gibson; brother, Bill Gibson and nephew, Daniel Sutton.
Survivors include his wife, Bridget White Gibson; step-son, Jayden Gleason; sister, Mettie Sutton and husband Mark; brother, John Gibson; nephews, Ryan Sutton, A.J. Sutton; niece, Stacy Gibson; expectant niece, Claire Annaliese White; father and mother-in-law Jay and Mary White; brother-in-law, Justin White and wife Christy; special friends, Jimmy and Tammy Bohanan and sons, Tyler and Corey
At J.D.’s request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bridget Gibson for J.D. Gibson Cancer Fund at any branch of Tennessee State Bank, or mailed to Tennessee State Bank, c/o Mail Teller, P.O. Box 1260, Pigeon Forge, TN 37868.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Thursday with a funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. David Carver and Rev. Teddy McCoig officiating.
