ELLIS, SAM - age 79, of Sevierville, died Friday, August 27, 1999.
He was a member of Evans Chapel Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Army during World War II. He was president of Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company and former member of Sevier County Court. He was a former Sevier County Road Superintendent. He was preceded in death by parents, Harrison and Jettie Ellis; brothers, Winfred, Verlis, Victor and Reece Ellis; son-in-law, Glenn David Hurst.
Survivors: wife, Mildred Ellis; daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Warren Hurst, Patsy and Donald Farmer, Lousie Hurst, Debbie and Tom Houk, Sharon and Ken Smith, Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Amy Harrison, Blair Harrison, Amanda Hurst, Heather Hurst, Samantha Spurgeon, Andrew Farmer, Anne Marie Farmer; sister, Ruby McCarter; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday in the West Chapel of Atchely Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Carr and Rev. Andy Ball officiating. Interment will follow in Caton's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Atchley Funeral Home.
