February 14, 1924 - September 2, 2015 Resided in Sevierville, TN Edith Mae McCarter Ellis, age 91 of Sevierville, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015. She was a loving mother and Mamaw. Edith was also a member of Henderson Chapel Baptist Church, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, and going to Cracker Barrel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verlis G. Ellis; son, Eddie K. Ellis; parents, Cephus and Florence McCarter; son-in-law, Eddie Sutton; and grandsons, Joey McCollum and Daniel Sutton. Survivors: Sons and Daughters-in-law: Glen and Helen Ellis and Danny and Glinda Ellis; Daughters and Sons-in-law: Carolyn and Don Smith; Glenda Sutton, Barbara and Ronnie White, and Kathy Whaley; 16 Grandchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. A special thanks from the family to all the nurses from Amedisys; her neighbor, Wanda Faye Lowe; and her granddaughter, Karen Rauhuff. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Friday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Loveday and Rev. Jack Hitch officiating. Interment 11 AM Saturday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens with Rev. Tom Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff and Sammy Ellis, Bobby Lethco, Mark Sutton, Scott and Shane Whaley. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh and Ryan Sutton, Logan Barretta, Andrew Rauhuff, and Lucas Lethco. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
