LOVEDAY, CLARA G. - age 99 of Knoxville, passed away, January 14, 2006, at Shannondale Health Care Center. She was born on August 16, 1906 in Whitesburg, Tennessee. She was a loving Christian mother who was devoted to her family and had been a member of First Baptist Church, Knoxville for 71 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis R. Loveday, brothers Edwin Grigsby, William Grigsby and Alan Grigsby and by sisters Emily Fair, Katherine Martin and Florence Underwood. She is survived by brothers and sisters Eugene Grigsby of Williamsport, Ohio, Milburn Grigsby of Knoxville, Oliver Grigsby of Chattanooga, Joy Mathews of Maryville and Dorothy Todd of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Also surviving are her son, Bill and wife Dimple Loveday; daughter Nell Mayfield; son Hugh and wife Gail Loveday and daughter Betty and husband John Doggett. Her grandchildren are: Dendra Myers, Hollis Loveday, Brenda Fleishmann, Mark Mayfield, Scott Loveday, Lisa Irwin, Susan Newton, Sara Collins, Steve Loveday, Matt Doggett, and Travis Doggett. She had 17 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly. Her family was her great interest in her retirement years and she did extensive genealogical research. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 11:00 am at the Fred Brown Chapel of First Baptist Church, Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the capital campaign of First Baptist Church, 510 W. Main, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37902. [S58] Marriage Certificate.
