He was a member and deacon of Beech Springs Baptist Church and the Men's Class Number 6 Sunday School Class, Past Master of French Broad Lodge #588 F&AM, Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, retired from Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company. Preceded in death by: his parents and sister. Survived by: his wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Dottie Pollard) Underwood; sons and daughters-in-law, Galen Roy and Rose Underwood, Roger Lynn and Pam Underwood; grandchildren, Brant Underwood, Nikki (Underwood) Snowman, Ashley (Underwood) Huffaker and Angela (Angie) Chen; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Ethel (Underwood) Thomas; and brother, Ray Underwood. Friends may call at their convenience from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Gentry-Griffey Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 7:00 Wednesday at Beech Springs Baptist Church, Kodak. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Thursday at Beech Springs Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service. Honorary pallbearers will be Beach Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Board and Men's Sunday School Class #6. Family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the church. Arrangements by Gentry-Griffey Chapel.
