Ford, Evelyn B., “Blackie”, born March 10, 1927, passed away January 24, 2009 at Maryville Healthcare. Blackie was saved in the late 1960s and was a member of Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle. She was an avid Bible student and also was associated with several gospel groups and many of these gospel groups stayed in the Ford home during the 1960s. She also loved to travel and read. After her husband died, she went back to school and became an LPN, worked many years at UT Hospital and in private duty nursing. She later moved North to be with her son David and family. After David’s passing at an early age, she moved back to Knoxville in 2002 and made her residence at Westview Towers. Blackie spent her last days at Maryville Healthcare and many thanks go to them for their care. Blackie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lena Beaver; several brothers and sisters; her beloved husband Dave; son David Ford III and grandson, David H. Ford IV, US Army, died September 16, 2005 in Baghdad, Iraq.
Survivors
She is survived by a brother, Ray Cruze of Nashville and sister Ruth Cameron of Florida. She also leaves three grandchildren: Ray William Ford, , and Kimberly Dawn Ford. She also leaves a special cousin, Velma Kerr, as well as special friends Judith Shoemaker, Karen Hamby, Joyce Swicegood, and Barbara Blankenship.
Service
