Resided in Sevierville, TN
J.C. "Jake" Starkey, age 71 of Sevierville, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at LeConte Medical Center. He was a retired truck driver and drove for Charlie Burchfield for several years at Purdy Brothers. Mr. Starkey was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and his greatest desire was for Clifton to take him to church when he was able to attend, as he had been disabled since July of last year. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and always looked forward to this time of year and spending time with his fishing buddies.
He was preceded in death by Ola and Freeman Starkey, Pearl Marine, Helen and Homer Henry, Gene Starkey, Ricky Henry, Chuck McCarter, Doc McCarter, and Sue Manning.
Survived by:
Loving wife of 45 years: Carolyn Amburn Starkey
Children: Rhonda Shults, Clifton Amburn and wife Sheryl, and Greg Starkey
Grandchildren: Sheila and Brandon Rummel, Shane Shults
Great-grandchildren: Chesney Rummel, and Jake's buddy, Houston "Hootie" Rummel
Sisters: Doris Griel of Louisville, KY, Sara Ellen and Wayne Smith, and Debbie
Brothers: Ed McCarter, Carl Marine, and Randy Marine and wife Beth
Aunt: Ruth Newcomb
Special niece and nephew: Regina Starkey and Thomas Bonneville

The family would like to offer special thanks the nurses and doctors at Thompson Cancer Center and LeConte Medical Center; the rescue workers at Sevierville Fire Department and 911 workers who so graciously came to our rescue; special friends Carl Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Pitts, and Jim Whaley, who went far beyond casual friendship; and to the daily phone callers, pastors Danny Matthews and Terry Spivey, and all the unknown prayers and kindness that were shown during this trying time of pain and grief.
