Omalee Elizabeth Blalock Wilson, born September 11, 1917, left this world on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at age 95. She went peacefully while surrounded by all her loved ones. Omalee lived a wonderful and exciting life. She attended college on a basketball scholarship and after graduation began teaching school. She taught for 44 years. She loved teaching and loved every student she had in class. In 2011 she was inducted into the Teacher's Hall of Fame.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Frank Wilson; brothers Lillard, Arthur, Charles, Westley, Clyde, Ralph, and Hugh Blalock; sisters Virgie Blalock, Iva Jenkins and Pearl Watson.
Survivors include:
Sons: Michael Wilson and wife Barbara, Dennis Wilson, Jeffery Wilson
Granddaughters: Taylor Wilson, Jenny Wilson and husband Brandon Hatcher, Jessica McWilliams and husband Nic
Grandson: Logan Wilson
Great-grandchildren: Kayla Brooke Harris, Emma Lee Grace Wilson
Brothers: Bill and Ted Blalock
A multitude of special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, in-laws and many, many special friends.
The family would like to extend a special "thanks" to Judy Parham and Debra Conner.
The family will receive friends 2-4 PM Sunday with funeral service to follow at 4 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Wells and Rev. Ed Parton officiating.
