Allen, Robert L., 86, of Sevierville, Tenn., formerly of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (Jan. 21, 2007) in Knoxville, Tenn. A St. Petersburg native, he moved to Sevier County, Tenn., after retiring in the early 1980s. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School and worked for the local contracting firm Cade B. Allen & Sons, developers of Allendale and other area subdivisions. He earned a degree in architecture from the University of Florida and worked for Parrish & Crow and William B. Harvard before opening his own office in 1958. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was a longtime member and life deacon at First Baptist Church and was active in the Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife, Jane Ludwig Allen; two stepsons, George Ludwig, Lake Mary, and Robert Ludwig, Hempstead, N.Y.; two sisters, Rena Leadbeater, Ocala, and Eva Allen Lewis, St. Petersburg; a brother, Burton, St. Petersburg; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 20 nieces and nephews.
