BEARD, WILLIAM ARLEY (BILL), JR. - age 69, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Monday, March 19, 2001. He was born July 11, 1931, on the Beard Farm in Strawberry Plains. Mr. Beard was a member of the Strawberry Plains Presbyterian Church for 65 years. He was a retired employee of BASF with 35 years of service. He was presently employed by the Jefferson County Sanitation Department. Preceded in death by father and mother, William Arley Beard Sr. and Flora Marinda Cole Beard, and sister, Barbara Jean Williams.
Survived by wife, Christine Beard of Strawberry Plains; son, William Arley Beard III of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Brian Keith Pollard of Halls; granddaughter, Chelsea Pollard; grandson, Alex Pollard; step sons, Danny Lee, and Stephen and wife Connie Lee; step daughters, Lisa Woods of Michigan, Amy and husband Bill Hartmann of Florida, and Valerie and husband Kevin Parrott of Florida; step grandchildren, Nathaniel and Ross Lee, Hannah, Lorin and Samuel Hartmann, Rachel, Rebecca and Jeremy Parrott, and Amelia and Grace Lee; sisters, Violet and Norman Brown, and Grace and Jay Bales; brother-in-law, Larry Williams; several nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends. Funeral services 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2001, Farrar Funeral Home Chapel, Jefferson City, with Rev. Dennis Maxey officiating. Family and friends will meet 2 p.m. Thursday at Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
