COLE, BESSIE MCDANNEL - was born October 24, 1912 at Nina, Tennessee and died April 25, 2008 at Shannondale Health Care Center. She was the daughter of C.E. McDannel and Mary Eldridge McDannel. She was a devout Christian, having accepted Christ at an early age and was the oldest member of Mascot Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She retired as a dietician at Harrrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy (now King's Academy) in 1976. Preceding her in death were her husband, Eddie Lee Cole; and two infant sons, William Robert and Herbert Jackson Cole; her sisters, Susie (Charles) Hodges, Neta (Paul) Witt, Margaret (Ray) Boles, and Charlsie (Harold) McDannel Hicks; and her brothers, Homer (Olga) Lawless and Charles Ed (June) McDannel, Jr.; also, daughter-in-law, Mary Zerda Cole. Left to mourn her passing are her sons, Frank J. Cole (Irene) of Columbiana, Ala., Eddie Stephen Cole of Lebanon, Tn.; daughters, Betty Ann Holt (Jim) of Mascot, Mary Sue Nipper (Robert) of Strawberry Plains, Rebecca (Faye) Emmert (Richard H.) of Morristown, Sharon Cole Ferguson of Knoxville. There are 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, a host of lovely nieces, precious nephews, and many dear friends. The family will receive friends at Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church, 4615 Ashville Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee, Sunday, April 27, 2008, from 1:30-3:30 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:30, with Pastors Lewis Thomas and Richard Emmert officiating. On Monday, April 28, 2008 at 10 am, family members will gather at Mascot Baptist Church for a brief service. The interment will follow at 11:00 am at the Beaver Creek Cemetery on Beaver Creek Road in Jefferson County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mascot Baptist Church Building Fund, Mascot, Tennessee or Kings Academy, Seymour Tennessee. McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home, 637-7955, is honored to serve the Cole family.
