BYRD, CALVIN C. - 78, of Dandridge, passed away March 2 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Knoxville. He served in the Army during WW II in the Pacific Theater. Returning home, he continued working at Bush Brothers canning factory from which he retired in 1988. During his retirement, he took pride in gardening and lawn work. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Iris Worth Byrd; daughters, Carol Bradley and son in law, Randy, Janice Rhoton and son in law, Charlie all of Dandridge and Judith Book and son in law, Steve of Kodak; grandchildren, Amy Reagan and husband, Jason of Knoxville, Jonathan Rhoton and wife, Rhonda, Michael Rhoton and wife, April all of Sevierville, Brittany and Brett Book of Kodak, Casey Bradley and wife, Jennifer of Spring Hill, and Mary Ellen Bradley of Dandridge; and special great grandchild, Will Reagan of Knoxville; a sister, Agnes Byrd of Sevierville; and brother, Wayne Byrd and sister in law, Frances of Parrottsville. He was a member of Fox United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Manes Funeral Home in Newport. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Don Jones officiating. Interment will be at Burchfield Memorial Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Burchfield Memorial Cemetery Fund c/o Dale Hill.
