Florence Cope Bush of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2004. She was born March 29, 1933 in Tremont, Tennessee. A lifelong student of the history of the Smoky Mountains and its people, she was the author of books about the Smoky Mountain area: Dorie: Woman of the Mountains by the University of Tennessee Press; Ocona Lufta Baptist: Pioneer Church of the Smokies; and If Life Gives You Scraps, Make a Quilt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dora Woodruff Cope and Fredrick Cope; brothers, Paul Cope, Don Cope; and sister, Edith Fox.
