“Ben” Raymond King, a loving husband, father and Papaw, a good man went to be with his Lord, January 10, 2009. He was 64 years old. He grew up in King Hollow and graduated from Pitman Center High School. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond and Bessie Mae King and brothers, Homer, Tommy, and Bob King.
He retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation with 40 plus years of service. He farmed and developed properties in Sevier County. He was a regular part of Dunn’s Market. He was a friend to many and always shared what he had. He was a member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church.
He leaves behind his wife of 45 years Carolyn Whaley King; his daughters, Barbara and her husband Rob Tinker, Belinda and her husband Mike Tinker, and Beth and her husband Matt Penland. His grandchildren, Lacee, Benton, Blair, Macee, Campbell, and Cybil. His sister and brother, Stella Caughron and her husband Harold and Johnny D. King and wife Karen and Judy King.
His mother and father-in-law Maude and Zenith Whaley, Brothers and sisters-in-law Lonnie and Blanche Hartsell, Sammy and Mary Whaley, Robert and Janie Edwards and Roy and Brenda Whaley. His nieces and nephews are Beverly Smith, Christy King, John-David King , Thomas Paul King, Joy Braden, Earl Hartsell, Steve Whaley, Andrea Daust, and Adam Merritt.
He leaves behind many friends and special friend Herb Blalock.
Funeral service 10 AM Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Andrews, Rev. Melvin Carr and Rev. Bob Walden officiating. Interment will follow in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church of Sevierville Television Ministry, 317 Parkway, Sevierville, TN 37862.
