Maude Ethel Cole, age 93 of Gatlinburg, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father Wednesday, February 20, 2002. She left this world to be one of God’s precious angels. She was born June 6, 1908 on Mill Creek near Gatlinburg, Tennessee. She was a member of Roaring Fork Baptist Church, Gatlinburg. She and her husband owned Cole’s Motel and Antiques for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Homer Cole and an infant daughter, Arbolea Cole. She was the last of nine children born to Harvey Henry Oakley and Sarah Elizabeth Kear Oakley. Her brothers and sisters were Arthur Oakley, Clifford Oakley, Nicholas Oakley, Rockford Oakley, Cora Oakley Watson, Martha Oakley Ogle, Emma Oakley Ramsey, and Laura Oakley Trentham.

The family would like to thank her caregivers over the years and her friends at Ashley Manor in Sweetwater, Tennessee.
Funeral service 2 PM Friday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. David Ayers and Rev. Don Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Chilhowee Cemetery, Seymour. The family will receive friends 12:30 –2 PM Friday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
